Pathways to Purpose and Opportunity

The Bridge Program is a flexible, cohort‑based workforce development experience that helps youth build confidence, career skills, and emotional resilience. Grounded in the evidence‑based CAST program, it strengthens school connection, motivation, and readiness for future education and employment.

6‑Week Workforce Development Experience

Designed for high school students (grades 9–12) and young adults (18–25), including justice‑involved youth, this hands‑on program blends mentorship, SEL development, and real‑world career exposure. Sessions are offered during extended school hours or seasonal breaks to ensure accessibility and impact.

Program Goals

Participants will:

  • Build employability and communication skills
  • Strengthen motivation, purpose, and future orientation
  • Explore career pathways and postsecondary options
  • Develop SEL competencies that support attendance and engagement

  • Prepare for employment, training programs, or college

Core Program Components

  • Workforce Wednesdays: Virtual workshops with CTE and industry professionals
  • Project‑Based Learning: Mini‑projects tied to real‑world skills and emerging careers
  • Work‑Based Learning: Internships, job shadowing, and service‑learning opportunities
  • Purpose Portfolio: Goal‑setting, resumes, certifications, and reflection activities
  • Mentorship Pathways: Connections to young professionals and industry advocates

Curriculum Overview

The curriculum integrates SEL with foundational technical skills in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, masonry, and maintenance. Students practice communication, decision‑making, stress management, and relationship‑building while engaging in hands‑on simulations and career exploration.

Weekly Focus Areas

  • Week 0: Orientation & career pathways
  • Week 1: Fundamentals — SEL foundations & safety/tools
  • Week 2: Core Skills — communication, decision‑making & simulations
  • Week 3: Career Exposure — field trip to colleges/trade programs
  • Week 4: Systems & Diagnostics — plumbing fundamentals
  • Week 5: HVAC & Mechanical Systems — troubleshooting basics
  • Week 6: Career Readiness — resumes, interviews, and next‑step planning

Expected Outcomes

Students will:

Evaluation includes pre‑ and post‑assessments, a 6‑week summary report, employability badges, and a completion certificate.
